Job summary

A global genetics solutions company in Guelph, Ontario is seeking a Lab Technician for semen production. Responsibilities include ensuring quality standards and maintaining lab records. Qualifications

  • Experience in a lab production facility preferred.
  • Understanding of lab production and quality control.
  • Ability to converse with clients in English and French is an asset.

  • Ensure all processes required for routine semen production meet established guidelines.
  • Evaluate microscopic motility, volume, and photometric results.
  • Maintain records and inventories of lab materials.

Job description

Afternoons 1-9pm, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities include:

  • Use of accepted protocols to ensure that all processes required for routine semen production meet established quality and quantity guidelines
  • Microscopic motility, volume and photometric evaluation
  • Labeling, dilution, fill-sealing, racking, freezing, extender-supplies, maintenance, lab collection equipment hygiene, lab cleanliness, and liquid nitrogen dispensing
  • Lab database entry and maintenance of records and lab material inventories
  • Participating in staff meetings

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • College Diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • Experience in a lab production facility preferred
  • Understanding of lab production, quality control, production database maintenance and recording
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Physically fit with acute manual dexterity, and able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to tolerate work in the cold room environment with temperatures ranging from 3°- 5° C for prolonged periods
  • Knowledge of the agriculture industry is an asset
  • Ability to converse with clients in English and French is an asset
