Job description

As a Laboratory Technician you will perform standard analytical tests on petroleum samples while conforming to the Laboratory’s quality management system under the supervision of Senior Lab resources.This is a 8-month term opportunity where you will learn to develop your competencies in each test method.

Your Responsibilities :

Receive training and build competencies in all test methods by Day Area or Control Lab (Shift areas). Test areas include the Corner, Cloud, Bunker, Asphalt, Chromatography and Octanes.

Pick up, or receive samples for testing, and deliver the samples to the appropriate staging area.

Perform routine testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology under supervision.

After review and signoff, verify and communicate test results assuring the validity and traceability of the information.

Make the appropriate entries into LIMS, instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or electronic, as required.

Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly condition.

Monitor the availability of the supplies needed for testing processes, restock areas as required, and make any deficiency of such supplies known to Shift Team Lead / Area Specialist.

Complete all training specific to their role and keep personal training records current and orderly.

Your Experience :

Post-secondary education in science or a related field.

Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License.

Prior experience in a lab environment an asset.

Experience with wet chemical testing methods an asset.
