Laboratory Technician A

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Trace Organics lab at our Calgary location. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor and assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities.

What You Will Be Doing

1. Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents, and calibration solutions.
2. Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and waste disposal.
3. Calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments.
4. Compile, verify, and validate accurate data records.
5. Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications.
6. Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
7. Report results.
8. Perform basic analysis.
9. Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To The Table

1. Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Science.
2. 2+ years’ laboratory experience and basic laboratory skills, along with familiarity with lab processes.
3. Experience using GC-MS or GC-FID instrumentation is an asset.
4. Fluent in English, both written and verbal communication.
5. Intermediate computer skills.
6. Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This position requires standing, sitting, and lifting throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is needed for repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
