Qualifications

  • Able to maintain and operate analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of laboratory processes.

Summary:

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory TechnicianA - GC & ICP Analyst to join our Forensics team workingout of our Calgary location. The successful candidate will be able to work independently on laboratory activities with responsibility for maintaining instruments and equipment used in the lab.It is expected that this position is able to work independently, with direction from the Laboratory Manager.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform sample, reagent and calibration preparation as directed
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance on all assigned instruments
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Report results
  • Other duties as assigned

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary education with a technical diploma or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
  • 2+ years laboratory experience with GC-MS, GC-MSMS and ICP-MSMS required
  • Experience using Triple Quad Mass Spec (QQQ-MS) would be an asset
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments
  • Knowledge of full laboratory processes
  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment

This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
