Job description

Skill, ability and qualifications

  • Minimum of a Chemical Engineering Technologist diploma; BSc. Engineering or Analytical Sciences.
  • Satisfactory pre-placement medical assessment from the Health Centre against the physical requirements of the position.
  • Candidates must have prior lab work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds in production testing, safety, and quality management systems (e.g., OIMS, QP&G, GPQMS, ISO 9001 registration, CIMS, DIAF, Engine Operation, Environmental testing, and Gas Chromatography).
  • Relevant knowledge and experience with analytical laboratory instrumentation such as routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment (e.g., Gas Chromatographs, Distillations, Vapour Pressure, Extractions, Titrations).
  • Experience troubleshooting non-routine lab testing and equipment reliability issues, including working with vendors or technical support.
  • Proven capability in using statistical quality control, including responding to run rule violations for standard deviations, control limits, moving ranges, and biases.
  • Proven ability in using statistical tools (e.g., TPI, cPk's, Site Precision).
  • Ability to apply procedures based on industry standards such as ASTM, EI, CGSB, AQUA, and MISA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Genie, and Adobe Acrobat.

Scope of responsibilities

  • Active participation in LPS programs and safety initiatives.
  • Full compliance with OIMS requirements.
  • Perform testing safely and in accordance with DIAF guidelines.
  • Carry out all laboratory testing, procedures, instrument troubleshooting, calibration, quality control, and routine maintenance within strict data integrity (DIAF) guidelines.
  • Complete annual data integrity assurance framework review and endorse acknowledgment documents.
  • Manage completion of WebCat modules independently.
  • Review laboratory notifications promptly.
  • Complete Test Method Assessments as assigned.
  • Fulfill mandatory training and progression requirements for the laboratory.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Lab Management team.
