Job Title: Lab Tech II

Location: Nanticoke

Length: 12 Month Contract to start

Rotation: Mon-Fri, 8 hours a day

Description:

We are seeking a Lab Tech II with a strong laboratory background. While experience in oil & gas is an asset, it is not required. The role involves extensive work with standards, troubleshooting lab equipment, and performing routine maintenance and calibration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory testing and procedures with strict adherence to data integrity (DIAF) and safety guidelines (OIMS).
  • Troubleshoot non-routine lab testing and equipment reliability issues, collaborating with vendors or technical support as needed.
  • Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and quality control on analytical lab instruments such as Gas Chromatographs, Distillations, Vapour Pressure, Extractions, and Titrations.
  • Apply industry standards and procedures (ASTM, EI, CGSB, AQUA, MISA).
  • Utilize statistical quality control tools, including TPI, cPk’s, Site Precision, and analysis of run rule violations.
  • Active participation in the Laboratory Performance System (LPS) and safety initiatives.
  • Complete WebCat modules, laboratory notifications, test method assessments, and training/progression requirements.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and perform additional duties as assigned by lab management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Chemical Engineering Technologist diploma or BSc. in Engineering or Analytical Sciences.
  • 2-5 years lab experience preferred, with a background in production testing, safety, and quality management systems (e.g., OIMS, QP&G, ISO 9001).
  • Proven experience troubleshooting lab equipment and performing quality control.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), plus familiarity with Genie and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Satisfactory pre-placement medical assessment.
