Responsibilities
  • Provide physical testing of incoming raw materials, in-process, and finished products for a production plant. Tests involve high temperature and flammable reagents.
  • Conduct effluent sampling and analysis.
  • Maintain laboratory systems for equipment calibration.
  • Issue and transmit Certificates of Analysis directly to customers.
  • Investigate customer complaints related to product quality.
  • Prepare and ship customer samples (up to 25 kg).
  • Prepare documentation for bulk shipments outside normal hours.
  • Run calibrations and maintain lab standards.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Complete laboratory quality records as prescribed.
  • Maintain accurate records of results and events.
  • Initiate non-conformities using Ester database.
  • Enter notifications in SAP for laboratory equipment repairs.
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working order.
  • Assist with investigation of customer complaints.
  • Perform weekend MISA sample collection and testing.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness.
  • Assist with departmental procedures and supply notifications.
  • Other related responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 Diploma including Chemistry or recognized equivalent, or post-secondary education in a laboratory or chemical discipline.
  • Proficiency in English and Math (oral and written).
  • Proven laboratory experience and familiarity with computer systems like SAP, email, spreadsheets.

The ability to work independently and safely, organize and prioritize tasks is essential. Previous experience in a chemical or industrial facility is preferred. Knowledge of management systems like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Responsible Care, and petroleum additives testing methods would be advantageous. Experience with forklifts is a plus.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team, be flexible, take initiative, solve problems, and own outcomes is important.
