About The Role

On-site | Casual

The Laboratory Technician 3 will assist in day-to-day operation of the laboratory and contribute to the overall productivity of the lab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Standardize equipment as needed;
  • Process samples according to SOPs;
  • Data entry results;
  • Ensure the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards and strict QA/QC requirements;
  • Meet Turn Around Times (TAT) and hold times;
  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure that instrumentation is in good working order;
  • Provide training and assistance to other technicians and technician assistants as required;
  • Keep registers up to date;
  • General laboratory clean-up and maintenance;
  • May Interact with Client regarding samples;
  • Perform instrument calibration and troubleshooting;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

  • Organized with proven ability to work to deadlines;
  • Highly motivated;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Must have a demonstrated strong aptitude to data processing, data reviewing and overall analytical skills;
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex instrumentation problems;
  • Strong aptitude in mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Required Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University Degree with Chemical background;
  • Minimum 2 years of transformer oils experience required.

Physical Demands

  • Able to lift 30 lbs and carry for short distances;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
  • Ability to stand for a full shift;
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
