About The Role:
This position describes the Laboratory Support provided to our Client. The Laboratory Support personnel are responsible for provision of support to the Laboratory and analyst team to ensure that the requirements of the Laboratory are supported in compliance with local procedures. The Laboratory support must work to ensure that the attainment metric is met while ensuring manufacturing and shipping timelines are also adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Duties:
- Collection, cleaning and washing of used glassware
- Tidy and upkeep of washroom
- Cleaning and dusting of equipment, benches, worktops and fume-hoods
- Tidy and upkeep of retain room, balance room, solvent stores, chemical stores and presses
- Labelling cupboards
- Cleaning of fridges, freezers, bio cabinets and cytomats
- Stock control
- Removal of waste materials from the laboratory (cardboard, glass, waste containers)
- Organise removal of hazardous waste from the laboratory (expired reagents)
- Maintaining stock of glassware and containers and other laboratory supplies
- Maintaining stock of PPE safety spill kits and general lab consumables.
- Maintaining stock of glassware, i.e. request new glassware if glassware broken or damaged
- Monitoring stocks of laboratory consumables and re-ordering as required
- Maintaining stock of solvents in compliance with site procedure
- Maintaining stocks of reagents in compliance with site procedure
- Ordering of all laboratory consumables and following up with suppliers when necessary
- Maintaining stock in the reagent in the lab
- Ensure required laboratory consumables (reagents, columns, glassware etc) are available for testing, to prevent any delays to the testing schedule
- Filing of paperwork, including logbooks
- Retrieval of all documentation
- Preparation and packing of documentation for off-site storage
- Upkeep of the Documentation area
- Maintenance of balances
- Visual Inspection of Glassware for damage or wear.
- Changing desiccant in desiccators as required
- Ensure samples are available for all materials requiring testing/approval to prevent any delays to the testing schedule
- Completion of water sampling
- Receipt of samples in SM system in accordance with the testing schedule
- Ensure retain samples are retained and stored in accordance with local procedures
- Complete daily balance calibration
- Daily water sample collection
- Ensure stocks of reference standards are maintained so they are available when required to prevent any delays to the testing schedule
- Complete any environmental, safety or GMP requirements for any new reagents which are used in the laboratory
- Complete daily/weekly instrumentation calibration, verification or maintenance routines to ensure instrumentation is maintained correctly and suitable for use when required.
- It is the responsibility of the position to strictly adhere to procedures and any issues identified are raised immediately
- Ensure a safe work environment for oneself and all employees
- Ensure all near misses and incidents are reported
- Ensure high standards of GMP and house-keeping are maintained in the laboratory
- Completion of training required to complete duties in compliance with local procedures
- Liaise with senior chemist to obtain compliance support with quality events or related issues
- Attend weekly team meetings and participate in a culture which is committed to high performance, innovation and promotes idea sharing
- Sampling of materials required for testing
Essential:
- Core competencies such as teamwork, communication skills.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Ability to effectively organise and prioritise work load.
Desirable:
- Openness to change, receptive to new ideas
- Good communication skills
Desired Experience:
- Preferable to have previous experience within the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience/understanding of analytical techniques
