Job summary

Public Health Ontario (PHO) seeks an Assistant Manager, Laboratory Operations to lead day-to-day lab operations at the Peterborough Laboratory, ensuring efficient workflows, QA compliance, and staff management. The role involves planning and overseeing staffing, performance metrics, and collaboration with management to meet public health objectives.

The incumbent will coordinate with supervisors and contract managers, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to outbreak response readiness

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a science-related program or laboratory discipline.
• Practicing certificate of registration with The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO) in good standing is required for technical/clinical testing roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead staffing and scheduling to meet KPIs and throughput targets.
• Develop and implement operational plans to meet QA standards and improve lab performance.
• Monitor QA compliance and coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage staff, performance reviews, and onboarding aligned with PHO policies.
• Oversee procurement coordination and budget-related activity for lab needs.
