The Opportunity

Join our Biogas Digester Analytical team as aLaboratory Chemist! We seek a self-motivated junior scientist passionate about environmental biotech with a strong scientific curiosity. You’ll optimize lab-scale bioreactors with your colleagues, conduct cutting-edge research, and collaborate directly with clients to solve real-world sustainability challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and optimize lab-scale anaerobic digesters and CSTR systems.
• Prepare custom trace element solutions.
• Perform wet chemical testing (BOD, COD, BMP, titration, colorimetry) to monitor digester performance.
• Analyze food/agricultural waste for feedstock suitability.
• Conduct scientific research: literature reviews, data analysis, and innovative problem-solving.
• Engage directly with clients to interpret lab reports and provide R&D project updates.
• Manage multiple projects while fostering team collaboration.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Minimum Requirements of this position:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field + hands-on lab experience.
• Avid reader of scientific literature with skill in synthesizing key findings.
• Proven ability to work independently with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong analytical skills: critical thinking, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills essential).
• Excellent communication skills (client-facing experience preferred).
• Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and perform physical lab tasks.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with anaerobic digestion, bioenergy, or bioreactor systems.
• Knowledge of waste bio-treatment or bench/pilot-scale digester maintenance.
