A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I for the Gibbons Health Unit. The role involves patient service and laboratory tasks, including specimen handling and testing. Ideal candidates will have completed a Medical Laboratory Assistant program and have recent experience in phlebotomy and ECGs.
Gibbons is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 28A, 37 km (23 mi) northeast of Edmonton.Health has an enormous impact on peoples' lives, and lab results play a key role in providing physicians with information they need to accurately diagnose and treat their patients. Alberta Precision Labs (APL) is looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to work in a fast-paced, public-facing Patient Service Centre (PSC). This individual will be required to follow lab processes and procedures, perform venipuncture, ECGs on registered outpatients and community patients Monitor wait times to ensure we are providing best service to our patients. This person will also be responsible for sample processing and transport as well as requisition management and participation on the JWHSC.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in the last year with phlebotomy and performing ECGs.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Epic Beaker within the last year.Experience with sample processing within the last year.Experience in the last year with Quanum is an asset.
