A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I for its Patient Service Centre. This position requires providing quality laboratory services, managing specimens, and ensuring efficient operations. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, candidates will interact positively with healthcare professionals. The role includes shift work across multiple sites.
You are organized, adaptable, and can work effectively under pressure. Able to prioritize tasks and manage your time, you have technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary in medical laboratories today. You are comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with. You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy. Access to reliable personal transportation is required as some of the possible work sites do not have access to public transportation. This is a regular relief position that can be scheduled at any of the three locations: St. Albert, Tudor Glen, Morinville. This position does not hold a regular rotation, and shifts scheduled based on operational demand between the operational hours of 0700-1930 hours. This position works every third Saturday and Sunday at St. Albert PSC. 0700-1530
Description:As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience.
