Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs in Pincher Creek Health Centre is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to support the clinical laboratory with friendly, accurate service. You will handle procurement, processing, testing of specimens, and reporting results in a safe, efficient manner.

This Regular Part Time position (0.50 FTE) requires MLA program completion, strong teamwork, communication and phlebotomy skills, and the ability to work across day, evening and weekend shifts in a rural Alberta

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Solid phlebotomy skills and technical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality service to laboratory clients in a safe manner.

Job description

The laboratory is located within the Pincher Creek Health Care Center and serves not only the town, but its expansive surrounding community. Located 1 hour west of Lethbridge Alberta and 40 mins east of the British Columbia border, beautiful Pincher Creek is less than 30 mins from the Rocky Mountains and 45 mins to Waterton National Park. The town has three schools, a recreational center with a library, pool and ice rink, a splash park, daycare centers, and is approx. 35 minutes from Castle Mountain Ski Resort. Camping, fishing, and hiking are some of the many outdoor attractions that make this town a piece of paradise. Many tourist attractions are also close by for your enjoyment including the Frank Slide, Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump and the Remington Carriage Museum.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant must have a strong sense of teamwork and possess excellent communication skills.Strong technical skills and adaptability is imperative in this position.Strong phlebotomy skills is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent rural experience is an asset.
