Alberta Precision Labs is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I for Medicine Hat Carry Drive, working in a fast-paced Patient Service Centre. You will perform venipuncture and ECGs, monitor wait times, and support the laboratory workflow in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities include procurement, processing, testing of specimens and reporting results. A MLA program or Canadian-equivalent training is required, with on-the-job phlebotomy training during probation.

• On-site phlebotomy training will be provided during probation.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Equivalent Medical Laboratory Assistant program is defined as completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) and Combined Laboratory and Xray Technologist (CLXT) program in Canada; completion of a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist program outside of Canada; and MLT and CLXT students who have completed their phlebotomy training/rotation. Applicants with a high school diploma may be considered. Upon hired, you will be required to complete on-the-job phlebotomy training provided by APL at no cost, and formal training courses offered by SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) or NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). The costs associated with these formal training courses will be your responsibility. You will be required to complete these training requirements within your probationary period, as per the Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA) collective agreement. Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of phlebotomy experience in the past 5 years. ECG experience.
