A leading healthcare provider in High River is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I. This role involves various laboratory functions including specimen testing and processing within a collaborative environment. Ideal candidates will have completed a relevant program and possess strong organizational and communication skills. Opportunities are available for part-time work with a posting end date of June 30, 2025.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Recent training or experience related to clinical laboratory required. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Proven ability to work within a computer-based environment. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients / clients, families, staff, interdisciplinary team members and personnel from other departments in a fast pace changing environment. Ability to work independently when necessary. Proven ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrate a customer service attitude and delivery of excellent customer service by effectively meeting customer (internal and external) client needs by means of building productive and respectful customer relations and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications :
Minimum 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred, including neonates. Minimum 1 year experience within Calgary Rural Zone laboratory is preferred. Ability to facilitate change positively by encouraging others and accepting change within the workplace. Demonstrated personal leadership, regardless of role, by leading themselves through change, building positive, respectful and collaborative working relationships. Urinalysis Experience preferred.
