Job summary

A clinical laboratory seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high quality service and perform various laboratory functions. Responsibilities include the procurement and testing of specimens, while qualifications include completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program and experience in phlebotomy. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently are essential. This role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to meet operational demands. Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
• Valid class 5 drivers’ license with a drivers abstract satisfactory to APL.
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. on a frequent basis.
• Ability to work independently within a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills focused on client services and public relations.
• Ability to perform repetitive duties efficiently and accurately.
• Ability to recognize and assist patients in distress.
• Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours and location of work.
• Proficiency in data entry.

Required Qualifications :

Excellent organizational, problem solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Strong commitment to confidentiality and professionalism. Leadership, customer service or change management courses.
