About the role

Independently weigh prepared pulp for the analysis of geological samples. Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.

This is a swing shift position

Responsibilities

1. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by following established safety rules and regulations and ALS best practices.
2. Report all safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager and participate in incident investigations when required.
3. Operate and maintain analytical balances in accordance with ALS procedures.
4. Accurately weigh pulp samples within ALS established weight ranges and standardized work instructions.
5. Inspect prepared pulp samples for poor homogeneity (non-uniform grain sizes).
6. Identify poorly prepared pulp samples and report to the supervisor or Manager.
7. Report all quality concerns to supervisor including equipment problems and suspected sample mix-ups while weighing. Correct the problem with assistance from supervisor.
8. Use Webview to locate, transport and update disposition of client samples by work order or digestion run number.
9. Wash labware using correct lab procedures to prevent cross contamination and maintain a good circulation of available test tubes and racks.
10. Safely dispose of sample solution waste using correct lab procedures.
11. Recommend ideas for safety, quality, or productivity improvements.
12. May create digestion run batches on Webview with assistance.
13. May assist in training new employees.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.

About you

1. Basic computer skills in using software applications required.
2. Good hand-eye coordination.
3. Able to work in a team setting.

5. Quality and detail-oriented individual.
6. Ability to work independently or under supervision.
7. Basic English communication skills required (verbal and written).

Required Qualifications

1. Minimum of 6 months’ work experience in a production-oriented environment.
2. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
3. Ability to sit and/or stand at a computer for up to 7.5 hours.
4. Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
