A global testing leader in Vancouver is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to conduct sample analyses and ensure data accuracy. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has a degree in Chemistry or a related field. About the Position
The Laboratory Analyst will work independently and as part of a team to accomplish a variety of lab tasks, including analyses, lab maintenance, and generating data.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for working in a team environment, operating an IC;
Prepare samples, reagents, standards, and reference materials for analysis;
Analyze samples of different matrices using laboratory instrumentation to generate accurate results for clients;
Complete data processing activities (i.e. data entry into LIMS, calculations, evaluation etc.) and all required documentation;
Perform instrument/equipment calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and/or repairs as required;
Work with Project Managers to deliver accurate results and updates to our clients in a timely manner;
Perform technical decision making for non-routine, complex analyses or matrices;
Monitor inventory of spare parts and consumables;
Organize workload to meet Turn Around Times (TAT);
Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.
About you
Organized, highly motivated, detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as within a team;
Able to motivate and encourage staff;
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);
Excellent time management skills;
Good organizational skills;
Professional conduct for interactions with team-members and other sections;
Familiarity with LIMS workload management and data-entry functions;
Familiarity with instrument software.
Required Qualifications
Completion of B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry, or related discipline (required);
2-3 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience (asset);
Previous experience with trace Metals analysis (asset).
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 20lbs;
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time throughout the shift;
Perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends

An estimated hourly pay of $22.67 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
