Serve as the primary point of contact for management and union or association representatives regarding labor relations matters.

Facilitate positive relationships between the company and unions, ensuring effective communication and collaborative issue resolution.

Advise on the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and company policies.

Provide guidance on union- and association-related matters, including contract negotiations, grievance handling, and dispute resolution.

Manage employee grievances professionally and timely, ensuring compliance with policies and agreements.

Support the development and implementation of corrective actions when needed.

Assist in preparing for collective bargaining by researching industry standards, market trends, and legal considerations.

Support negotiation of labor contracts, aiming for fair agreements balancing employee needs and organizational goals.

Advise management on the impacts of labor agreements and legal changes on the business.

Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and agreements to ensure compliance.

Coordinate with legal teams to mitigate risks related to labor disputes or litigation.

Train managers and supervisors on labor laws, conflict resolution, and employee relations best practices.

Promote awareness of employee rights and labor policies organization-wide.

Support the development of internal policies related to labor relations and dispute resolution.

Participate in workplace investigations concerning labor disputes or violations of agreements, documenting findings and making recommendations.

Ensure confidentiality and fairness in grievances.

Collaborate with People & Culture and legal teams to review and update policies.

Align labor relations policies with organizational goals and legal requirements.

Advise leaders on managing unionized employees and workplace conflicts.

Support leadership in navigating complex labor challenges and fostering a collaborative workforce.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in labor and industrial relations, HR, business, or related field (preferred).

3-5 years of experience in HR, employee relations, or legal compliance.

Experience with unions, collective bargaining, and employment law.

Knowledge of relevant employment and labor legislation, including Canadian Federal and Provincial laws.

Completion of SPHR / CPHR or working towards it is an asset.

Location options : Calgary, Edmonton (Alberta), Saint-Hyacinthe (Quebec), and surrounding areas.
