Job summary

Vitalant is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support its life‑saving mission by operating in the laboratory, handling component production, labeling, and data entry. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and flexibility in shifts to meet patient and donor needs.

You'll maintain records, prepare blood components, and ensure product quality while working a Tue–Sat 4:00 pm – 12:30 am schedule. Comprehensive benefits and a supportive team await.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and keyboarding skills.
• Flexible shifts and overtime when necessary.

Hourly Base Rate: 21.00 - 21.63 / hour DOE

Shift Differentials *hours worked during:

• 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm 9%
• 11:00 pm - 7:00 am 14%

As a Laboratory Technician, you'll get to

• Maintain accurate data records and documentation.
• Prepare blood components through processes such as centrifugation, separation, freezing, thawing, washing, storage, sterile docking, transformation, and filtration.
• Ensure product quality, volume, appearance, and time requirements.
• Conduct labeling for routine and special components and implement quarantine procedures.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

High School graduate or GED required.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be detail oriented and possess strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• Must be able to maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
• Must possess basic keyboarding skills and the ability to handle and operate laboratory equipment.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts and overtime when necessary.
