LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in Burnaby, BC, is hiring a Lab Technical Assistant to assist with specimen preparation and testing in a fast-paced lab environment. You will support testing under supervision, ensure instrument readiness, and help maintain accurate records to support high-quality patient results.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with courses in post-secondary science or medical terminology.
• Previous laboratory experience is an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment while being detail oriented and hands on.
• Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office products.
• Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
• Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession, sort and prepare specimens for testing
• Perform manual and automated testing procedures under the guidance of a Medical Laboratory Technologist
• Respond to phone inquiries from LifeLabs employees and clients such as hospitals, clinics and physicians
• Clean, maintain, and operate instruments and other equipment
• Participate in problem solving in work organization and workflow to drive continuous improvement
• Always ensuring test quality and personal safety
