SLB is seeking a Laboratory Technician responsible for ensuring safe and efficient service delivery through quality assurance testing and technical support in additive selection and fluid design. This role involves maintaining laboratory standards, preparation of reports, and engagement with clients and product centers. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an oilfield fluids laboratory and the legal right to work in Canada without sponsorship. Strong commitment to health and safety protocols is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers.
  • Perform quality assurance tests on company products.
  • Prepare laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite.
  • Provide advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design.
  • Maintain contact with the Client Support Labs and operating locations, and product centers.
  • Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Develop competency level for advanced additive selection and fluid design.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is clean and waste is disposed of regularly.
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure laboratory operates according to required standards.
  • Assist the Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support.
  • Perform risk analysis to identify and mitigate safety or quality concerns.
  • Participate in Service Quality Meetings with customers and improve performance.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
  • Maintain the required safety training.

Job description

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers. The Laboratory Technician identifies opportunities to improve service delivery. This person performs quality assurance tests on company products, prepares laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite, and provides advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design. The Laboratory Technician maintains contact with the Client Support Labs and/or operating locations, product centers and the InTouch repository.

  • Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Develop the competency level required to perform advanced additive selection and fluid design.
  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is in clean, working condition and that waste is regularly disposed.
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure the laboratory operates according to required standards.
  • Assist the Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support as required.
  • Perform risk analysis before each task or job to identify and mitigate potential safety or quality concerns.
  • Participate in Service Quality Meetings with customers and improve performance using action plans.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
  • Maintain the required safety training.


5 years experience working in an oilfield fluids lab.

Must have the legal right to work and reside in Canada without sponsorship.
