Job description

LAB TECHNICIAN

Activity sector: Pulp and Paper

Site: Kamloops, BC

Wage: $36.11 per hour

Schedule: 7:00am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday – with shared rotating weekend coverage

Your Role

The Kamloops Pulp Mill is currently looking to hire a full-time Lab Technician to join the Technical and Customer Services team.

Your Responsibilities
  • Testing and reporting results on incoming raw materials, final product quality, environmental factors, hygiene, in-process testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Training and assisting in other areas of the Mill as needed.
Your Skills and Abilities
  • Analytical with strong logical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with software databases like QIS or ParcView is an asset.
  • Organized, able to prioritize and multitask with strong attention to detail.
  • Motivated, positive attitude, strong work ethic.
  • Team player capable of following directions.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Your Qualifications
  • Technical diploma or BSc degree in chemistry or related field (biology, biochemistry, microbiology).
  • Previous laboratory experience required; pulp mill or environmental testing experience is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with various software including Microsoft Office Suite.
