Job summary

LifeLabs in Brampton, ON is seeking a Lab Patient Technician to support specimen collection from greeting patients to preparation for transport. This temporary part-time role includes Sunday through Saturday shifts and a start date ASAP with a contract end date of 31/03/2028.

You will perform phlebotomies, ECG tracings, holter monitor connections, and special test collections, while maintaining patient privacy and accurate data entry.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
  • ECG training or experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Strong customer/patient service with the ability to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations.
  • Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Perform special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Job description

As a Lab Patient Technician you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. This is an important role in patient care and our business, and will let you see the difference that you make in patients' lives.

Status: Temporary Part Time Regular
Schedule: Sundays to Saturdays
Additional requirements: Successful candidate will have a set shift and will work every schedule. Successful candidate will also go into Sunday rotation at another locationNumber of Positions: 1
Start Date: ASAP
Contract End Date: 31/03/2028
