Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is looking for a Lab Patient Technician for a temporary full-time position. The technician will greet patients, perform phlebotomies and ECGs, and handle specimen collection while ensuring patient privacy.

The ideal candidate will have a background in laboratory assistance, excellent communication skills, and a strong customer service orientation. Additional benefits include competitive compensation and comprehensive health benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent is preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service orientation.
• Strong empathy and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.

Lab Patient Technician

Status: Temporary Full-Time

Schedule: 37.5 hours per week. Various shifts and schedules depending on operational demands

Location: Carling location on a rotation basis

Start date: ASAP

End date: 1 year contract

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, request required information and explain the specimen collection process.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Collect special test specimens such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships, responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and other details related to processing test results.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent is preferred.
