Base pay range: $24.87 / hr - $29.04 / hr

As a Lab Patient Technician, you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This vital role impacts patient care and our business, allowing you to see the difference you make in patients’ lives.

Status: Part-Time Float Schedule: Shifts between Mon - Fri, 6:45 am - 5:45 pm. Additional requirements: This is a part-time float position covering Guelph and Fergus areas. Shifts will vary from opening to closing, with rotational Saturdays. Times and locations depend on operational needs. Number of Positions: 1. Start Date: ASAP.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Greet and gather required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure test protocols are followed.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Conduct special test collections, such as drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, with proper documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests.
  • Enter patient demographics and requisition information accurately.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
  • Good computer skills, with at least 40 wpm typing speed.
  • Excellent customer/patient service skills, even under stress.
  • Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
