Job Title: Lab Assistant

Department: School of Environmental Studies and Biotechnology

Location: College Drive Campus – North Bay, ON

Status: Regular Part-Time – 9-month position

Hours Per Week: Up to 24 hours

Pay Rate: $18.84/hour

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in the field of Environmental Studies or Biotechnology
• Recent laboratory experience in applied microbiology and chemistry
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation of microbiology media and chemical solutions, maintain cultures and perform quality assurance processes to ensure quality control on all lab materials and equipment
• Clean, disinfect and sterilize lab equipment and maintain labs to ensure safe and orderly environment
• Assist with lab set-ups to ensure equipment is in place and functioning prior to use by students and faculty
• Assist with inventory of lab supplies and equipment, initiate purchase orders and follow-up for delivery, and initiate equipment maintenance requests
