Lab Assistant – Physiology Research Support

Job summary

The University of British Columbia's Loewen Laboratory, in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, will hire a Laboratory Assistant to join the team.

The position reports to the Principal Investigator and supports routine lab tasks and inventory management, under direct supervision. A high school diploma is required; a BSc is preferred for future growth in the lab.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sterilizes glassware.
• Performs laboratory clean up tasks.
• Assists in stocking supplies and updating inventory.
• Assists in routine sorting of samples.
• Prepare media and other simple preparation tasks.
• Assist senior laboratory members and PI with simple research support activities as needed.
• Attend regular lab meetings.
• Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
