Are YOU our next Laboratory Assistant? As a Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately and promptly. You will also play a vital role in providing excellent customer service to ensure the best possible patient experience. Handling stressful situations with empathy, care, and kindness is essential, as testing results can be critical for patients. Your role will help make a positive impact on their lives.

This is a permanent full-time position, working Monday to Saturday, between 7:45 am and 4:15 pm. The role is located in Belleville, Ontario, at our Laboratory and Health Services Center. Internal applications are due by April 21, 2024.

How YOU will make a difference:

  • Create an exceptional customer experience that engages individuals with our products and services.
  • Accurately enter patient and test information for Ministry of Health requisitions.
  • Obtain quality blood samples and other specimens from patients using skilled venipuncture techniques, performed in alignment with Dynacare’s mission and values.
  • Sort and direct specimens, perform ECGs, Holter monitor hookups, paternity tests, urine, drug, and breath alcohol collections.
  • Ensure specimens and documentation are completed per SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation, following protocols for handling suitable and unsuitable samples.
  • Maintain confidentiality and contribute to meeting quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and quality indicators.

What YOU bring to the role:

  • Completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy.
  • Customer-focused with a genuine concern for patients’ health.
  • Skilled in phlebotomy, capable of managing anxious patients with a calm and reassuring manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-manage in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to communicate instructions clearly and effectively to patients.
