We Are Looking For a Lab Assistant In 7150 Frederick Banting, Suite 101, Montreal, QC H4S 2A1 CAN.

Objective

The candidate is responsible for providing basic assistance to the operations of the laboratory, and for maintaining a sterile and safe work environment.

  • Assist in preparation of media and reactives used in the laboratory.
  • Maintain clean laboratory by properly storing chemicals, reagents and supplies. Maintain adequate stock of these materials.
  • Clean and decontaminate equipment, glassware, metal instruments, sinks, water baths, tables, and test panels, using solvents, water, acetone bath, and cloth or hot-air drier, brushes, and rags, etc.
  • Prepare and use cleaning solutions according to specifications. Perform quality control checks such as temperature checks, balance verification or detergent residue testing as required by department leadership.
  • Assist other laboratory personnel performing testing procedures as instructed by department leadership.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies and instrumentation in working order to perform necessary preventative maintenance for operating departments.
  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for laboratory.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Maintain inventory, rotate supply, discard expired dry, refrigerated and frozen materials and retain as directed by department leadership.
  • Completes assigned tasks under supervision of department leadership, while working with team to accomplish department goals

Objectif

Activités Principales

  • Nettoyer et décontaminer l'équipement, la verrerie, les instruments métalliques, les éviers, les bains-marie, les tables et les panneaux d'essai, à l'aide de solvants, d'eau, de bain d'acétone, de chiffon ou de sécheur à air chaud, de brosses et de chiffons, etc.
  • Préparer et utiliser des solutions de nettoyage selon les spécifications.
  • Effectuer des contrôles de qualité tels que des vérifications de température, des vérifications d'équilibre ou des tests de résidus de détergent, comme l'exige la direction du département.
  • Assister le personnel du laboratoire dans l'exécution des procédures de test, conformément aux instructions de la direction du département.
  • Maintenir l'équipement, les fournitures et l'instrumentation en état de fonctionnement pour effectuer la maintenance préventive nécessaire pour les départements opérationnels.
  • Maintenir la connaissance du Système d'Information de Gestion de Laboratoire (LIMS) qui est requise pour l'exécution des tâches.
  • Soutenir la qualité de l'entreprise et le processus d'amélioration continue.
  • Assurer un environnement de travail sûr pour le laboratoire.
  • Participer aux audits.
  • Maintenir l'inventaire, faire la rotation des fournitures, jeter les matériaux secs, réfrigérés et congelés périmés et les conserver selon les instructions de la direction du département.
  • Accomplir les tâches assignées sous la supervision de la direction du département, tout en travaillant avec l'équipe pour atteindre les objectifs du département.
  • Effectuer les tâches d'ouverture et de fermeture assignées par la direction du département.
  • Nettoyer la verrerie et les autres récipients et les retourner au laboratoire pour utilisation.

YOUR PROFILE
Profile (required education/qualifications and professional background)

High School Diploma required. The incumbent must have a basic knowledge of microbiology to accurately perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results. A basic knowledge of personal computers is useful to accurately enter testing data and results. A basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment. Planning skills are useful to maintain supplies of analysis materials and ensure analysis is completed within specified time.

Required skills

Analytical skills are essential to complete analysis procedures and determine the concentration of the microorganism. A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to process client data. Physical dexterity is required for manipulating samples.

Work Environment

The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process. The incumbent may use the autoclave daily to complete the analysis process. Continuous lifting of analysis materials weighing up to 50 pounds are necessary to transport media materials. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position. The incumbent should be able to detect slight variation in shades of colors.

Monday to Friday 2pm to 10:30PM, eligible to shift premium

Des compétences analytiques sont essentielles pour mener à bien les analyses et déterminer la concentration du micro-organisme. Une connaissance générale du système de gestion de l'information de laboratoire est requise pour traiter les données clients. Une dextérité physique est requise pour manipuler les échantillons.

Environnement de travail

Le/La titulaire travaille en laboratoire avec un éclairage et une température adéquats. Il/Elle sera exposé(e) occasionnellement aux vapeurs, aux produits chimiques et aux matériaux de laboratoire. Le port d’équipements de sécurité (gants, blouse et lunettes) peut être requis selon le procédé d’analyse. Le/La titulaire peut utiliser l’autoclave quotidiennement. Le transport des milieux de culture nécessite le levage continu de matériaux d’analyse pesant jusqu’à 22,7 kg. Le/La titulaire peut s’attendre à passer de longues heures en position debout. Il/Elle doit être capable de détecter de légères variations de couleurs.
