Legal Aid Alberta is seeking to fill a full time, Human Resources Advisor in our Edmonton office.This position will appeal to an individual that likes to take initiative, is client focused and is exceptionally strong in delivering high-quality results.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager Title , some of the key responsibilities include:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage full cycle external recruitment activities including:
    • Sourcing and screening of candidates.
    • Coordinating and conducting interviews and reference checks.
    • Recommendation and selection of candidates.
  • Conduct all stay and exit interviews with new hires and staff exiting the organization.

Labour & Employee Relations

  • Manage all WCB/short term/long term disability leaves including establishing any graduated return to work programs and accommodations in partnership with management, union, and any third-party service provider.
  • Provide backup support and coverage to the HRBP in areas of day-to-day consultation, guidance and support to business leaders on a variety of employee relation issues (attendance management, performance planning/management, progressive corrective action, investigations, terminations, and situational coaching).

Data & Analytics

  • Provide regular quarterly reporting to the HRBP in the following areas but not limited to:
    • Recruitment data
    • Stay & Exit Interview Data
    • Turnover Data
    • Absenteeism Data

HR Operations/Services/Projects

  • Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for the HR Administrator ensuring consistent and uninterrupted delivery of HR services, including but not limited to employee onboarding, regular reporting, intranet maintenance and organizational wide communications.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate and simplify HR processes to enhance the employee and manager experience.
  • Participate in the research, development, and implementation of new or revised HR policies, programs, HR best practices and procedures for LAA.
  • Provides training, coaching and mentoring to the HR Administrator/Coordinator in their key responsibilities and best practices of HR.
  • Leading and/or participating in Human Resource and/or business projects, initiatives or committees based on organizational requirements, skill/expertise, interest, and capacity/availability.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of experience working within Human Resources. Combination of Experience and Education may be considered)
  • Experience working with a demonstrated understanding of HR data, HR policies, recruitment best practices and talent retention tactics.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge in recruitment practices and talent retention initiatives.
  • Understanding of Employment Legislation, Human Rights Legislation, Employment Standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of modern and progressive HR practices and principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with Dayforce or equivalent HRIS systems
  • Advanced computer literacy, including effective working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), SharePoint, Teams and Human Capital Management Systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence business leaders to influence business leaders on effective talent acquisition practices.
  • Strong presentation skills with a variety of audiences
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
