Job description

Overview

At KPMG, you will be part of a diverse and dedicated team of problem-solving professionals with a common goal: translating information into opportunities for our clients and communities worldwide.

The Cyber Forensics Server Administrator is a key technical resource responsible for managing various digital forensics and electronic evidence management technologies in production, testing, and development environments. This individual is part of a national team providing ongoing technical support and deploying new IT infrastructure.

Working closely with other IT staff, the server administrator is tasked with troubleshooting server issues, identifying and analyzing performance bottlenecks, recommending improvements, supporting internal users, and optimizing applications within our IT environment.

What You Will Do
  1. Manage and support the production, testing, and development infrastructure comprising over 200 servers and storage networks (SAN).
  2. Anticipate and manage resource bottlenecks using performance monitoring tools, profiling methods, custom scripts, and external vendor tools.
  3. Resolve connectivity and performance issues related to data-dependent servers and applications.
  4. Develop and maintain documentation for all relevant entities, including architecture diagrams, schema definitions, and operational manuals.
  5. Implement and maintain development, quality assurance, and testing environments for development procedures and version upgrades.
  6. Ensure compliance with security frameworks established by the firm and clients, following KPMG's security practices.
  7. Develop, implement, and maintain a backup and disaster recovery strategy for all systems.
  8. Participate in multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring proper documentation for operational support.
  9. Collaborate closely with other internal IT teams, vendors, and external consultants to optimize system configurations and resolve infrastructure issues.
  10. Provide on-call support outside normal working hours.
What You Bring to the Role
  • Experience with Relativity, Nuix, and Forensics software.
  • College or university diploma in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with Windows Server systems, Windows Clusters, and related Microsoft technologies like Active Directory, Exchange, Lync, SharePoint, SQL, SCCM, and SCOM.
  • Deep knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies, including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and Azure.
  • Experience configuring load balancing and optimizing availability.
  • Practical knowledge of Citrix applications, including XenApp and Netscaler.
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with backup, archiving, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Experience scripting with Windows PowerShell, VBScript, etc.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technological problems.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with proven communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Motivation and ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Certifications such as MCSE and ITIL V3 (entry level) are desirable.
  • Proficiency in professional English (required).

This position requires proficiency in both written and spoken English. The successful candidate will support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders at the national level during their employment with KPMG.

Salary Range - British Columbia

The base salary range for this position is $73,000 to $109,500, with potential bonuses. Compensation is determined based on location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to salary, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits program.
