Job description

The KYC Analyst plays a crucial role in financial risk management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by conducting thorough due diligence on clients and third parties. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assess potential financial crime risks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Client & Third-Party Research – Conduct in-depth external investigations using specialized tools and public information sources.
  2. Sanctions & Adverse Media Screening – Monitor and analyze clients and third parties for potential risks related to sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and negative media coverage.
  3. Ownership Identification – Determine beneficial ownership structures and assess potential financial crime risks.
  4. Risk Analysis & Reporting – Analyze research findings to identify high-risk indicators and prepare detailed summary reports.
  5. Escalation & Mitigation – Flag high-risk entities, summarize relationships, and recommend appropriate risk mitigation actions.
  6. Ongoing Monitoring – Continuously track high-risk clients and third parties for changes in risk profiles, sanctions, or adverse media updates.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Education & Background

Enrolled in or completed a post-secondary program in business, commerce, analytics, or risk management.

Strong business acumen, with solid analytical and conceptual thinking skills.

Technical & Analytical Skills

Experience with KYC/AML research tools and databases (e.g., World-Check, Dow Jones Risk & Compliance, LexisNexis).

Ability to interpret complex ownership structures and financial data.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for summarizing findings and presenting risk assessments.

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

High attention to detail and accuracy in conducting due diligence investigations.

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively based on risk levels and urgency.

Commitment to quality, ethics, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Bilingualism (French) is an asset.

Preferred Certifications & Industry Knowledge

Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar AML/KYC certification (preferred).

Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as FINTRAC, FATF, AMLD, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and USA PATRIOT Act.

Familiarity with financial crime compliance requirements for banks, fintech firms, investment firms, and corporate entities.
