About the Opportunity

The Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU) supports the conduct and implementation of patient-oriented research addressing Maritime health priorities. The Halifax node of the MSSU is comprised of a dynamic team of individuals who initiate and respond to requests for research supports.

Position: Knowledge Translation Coordinator

Reporting to: Executive Director, Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit

Role: The Knowledge Translation Coordinator will initiate, develop and implement knowledge translation strategies to make Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit research evidence available and accessible for healthcare decision makers and consumers. The Knowledge Translation Coordinator will build relationships and collaborative networks with stakeholder groups to enhance and support the implementation of use of research evidence and support partner organizations in their adoption and implementation of Learning Health Systems. The Knowledge Translation Coordinator is also responsible for the following:

• Creates and updates knowledge translation tools, materials; stays up to date on Knowledge Translation (KT) and Implementation Science (IS) literature.
• Provides KT and IS guidance and mentorship through consultation with Maritime SPOR Networks, MSSU researchers and independent researchers on grant applications and research projects.
• Works closely with other MSSU staff members on Unit-wide initiatives, policy development, and events, as they arise.
• Ability to travel within and out of province for workshops, meetings, conferences.
• Works closely with Knowledge Translation Canada staff.
• Generates activity reports and contributes content to newsletters, MSSU website, and to the Director as required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Master's Degree in a related area such as health science, social sciences, epidemiology, and health services research
• Baccalaureate degree in health or social sciences, epidemiology or health services with equivalent work experience will be accepted
• 3-5 years experience in knowledge translation/policy development/quality improvement related roles
• Knowledge of health care research and knowledge translation normally acquired through a postsecondary program and relevant experience.
• Ability to develop and manage collaborative relationships with healthcare practitioners, government officials, researchers and patient/consumer groups.
• Experience in meeting and conference planning.
• Excellent technical skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to embrace change, adapt to new information, and work proactively and positively in an evolving organizational context.
• Ability to set priorities and manage changing/conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
• Ability to take initiative; work independently and accountably in a positive manner
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$38.6 - $47.95 Hourly
