Bergen Gardens is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to lead daily kitchen operations in a long-term care setting, ensuring meal service reflects residents’ preferences and supports a positive dining experience.

The role requires event management of staffing, training, and adherence to health and safety standards with a focus on quality care and resident satisfaction. Evening, weekend, and on-call flexibility are essential for coverage.

  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Report incidents and support continuous improvement.

Description
Position Summary

The Kitchen Supervisor leads daily kitchen operations in a long-term care environment, delivering high-quality food service while supporting a resident-centered (person-directed) approach. This role ensures residents’ preferences are reflected in meal service and fosters a positive dining experience.

Qualifications
  • Certificate in Culinary Arts (or equivalent)
  • 1-2 years leadership experience in a healthcare/long-term care preferred
  • Red Seal certification is an asset
  • Ability to lead teams and build positive relationships
  • Adaptable, organized, and committed to quality care
  • Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills
  • Detail-orientated and self-motivated
  • Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
  • Overtime may be required outside normal hours of work to accomplish duties during periods of heavy work requirements.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position (i.e., unload heavy items/equipment/supplies, work from ladders, push/pull large and heavy containers, etc.)
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks required
  • Exposure to heat, equipment, and cleaning chemicals
  • Other duties as assigned
