  • £12.43 per hour
  • Increased pay on weekends
  • 37 hours per week

About The Role

The Kitchen Assistant supports the Assistant Cook in preparing nutritious meals, considering dietary requirements. They ensure a clean, safe environment, follow hygiene policies, and contribute to safeguarding the welfare of those supported.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Basic food prep such as vegetables and salads
  • Prepare meals per dietary needs (allergies, textures, cultural diets)
  • Maintain food hygiene standards
  • Follow health and safety practices, wear protective clothing
  • Keep food prep areas clean and ready
  • Serve meals with team members
  • Clear and wash up after meals
  • Use equipment safely, keep it maintained, report faults
  • Unload deliveries, perform general kitchen duties
  • Maintain personal hygiene and presentation
  • Work as part of a team, cover for others when needed
  • Keep records for audits
  • Attend staff meetings

Person Specification Must Haves

  • Ability to use kitchen equipment, follow instructions
  • Good written English skills
  • Reasonable physical fitness
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Teamwork commitment
  • Willingness to work towards Food Safety Level 2 and Infection Control certificates
  • Understanding of food hygiene and safety
  • Basic catering equipment knowledge
