About Us

Metta Home for the Disabled and Metta Home Day Activity Centre (慈光乐陶苑及智障日间活动中心) provide community care for adults aged 18–55 with intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to equip beneficiaries with the skills and confidence to lead fulfilling, independent lives, while working closely with their families for well-rounded support.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, food hygiene, and timely meal preparation for our residents and day-care clients. You will work closely with the cook and supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and wash kitchen utensils, plates, and silverware, ensuring they are cleaned and disinfected
  • Operate kitchen equipment and machinery safely
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen floor regularly
  • Assist with unloading, sorting, and storing food supplies and donated items
  • Organise and maintain kitchen inventory
  • Prepare and clear food before and after breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tea breaks
  • Ensure proper sorting of meals according to dietary requirements (e.g. soft diet, normal, diabetic)
  • Pack stores and assist with the collection and storage of donated goods
  • Support supervisor when donation items are delivered
  • Complete all assigned duties in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Job Requirements
  • Minimum Primary School education
  • Relevant kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
  • Able to converse in simple English
  • Willing to work on rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Shift timings (subject to roster): 6:00am – 2:00pm / 8:00am – 4:00pm / 10:30am – 6:30pm
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Hardworking, meticulous, and responsible
