Overview

The Kitchen & Cafeteria Worker is responsible for performing duties related to operating the dishwashing machine, transporting dishes, food item preparation, patient meal service, cafeteria customer service, and cleaning of the preparation and service areas.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in all phases of food preparation as directed, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and cafeteria area.
  2. Prepare, serve, and transport patient trays, snacks, or supplements. Retrieve, wash, and store patient trays as necessary.
  3. Arrange and stock food items on the cafeteria counter and serve customers. Check food temperatures on steam tables and restock condiments and other items as needed.
  4. Take temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and food prior to meal service.
  5. Clean preparation areas and equipment.
  6. Operate the cash register, collect payments, and record cash after each meal or snack period.
  7. Assist in the preparation, serving, and clean-up of catered meals.
  8. Assist with vending machine operations as needed.
  9. Clean dishes and utensils, including scraping, racking, and hand-washing dishes, trays, and silverware.
  10. Assist on the tray conveyor line during patient tray service periods.
  11. Assist in storing staple goods and supplies.
  12. Dispose of garbage accumulated during shifts and clean garbage cans and areas.
  13. May clean pots and pans as assigned.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education Level: High School Diploma Preferred

Experience: Up to 1 year Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Adept at problem solving and decision making skills
