Good Shepherd is preparing to launch a new, innovative shelter that will provide emergency accommodation to individuals and domestic partnerships currently living in encampments.
This housing-focused shelter program will offer stand-alone units for residents (and their pets) on a City-owned site at Barton and Tiffany Streets. The program team will provide intensive, adaptive supports and services to residents with highly complex barriers to finding and sustaining housing in the community.
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Housekeeping / Kitchen Aide enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for kitchen aide and driving services.
How You Will Make an Impact
This role combines both cleaning and kitchen aide responsibilities, with a focus on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene while assisting in food preparation and delivery.
You will be responsible for helping with cleaning, including rinsing, washing, stocking, and storing food, as well as maintaining accurate food logs. Additionally, you'll assist with the delivery of prepared meals to the shelter locations or catering functions. A key part of the role is also cleaning dishes, maintaining the kitchen area—including storage areas—and ensuring vehicle cleanliness related to food delivery if applicable.
As a Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness of the shelter by regularly cleaning resident rooms upon entry or discharge, common areas, and high-touch surfaces. Duties will include dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning washrooms, laundry facilities, and performing cleaning of rooms, office spaces, and meeting rooms. You will also manage cleaning supplies, ensuring inventory is stocked, and order more supplies as needed. Routine outdoor tasks such as garbage disposal and maintaining clean public spaces will be part of your responsibilities, as well as assisting with special requests from the Director/Manager. This position requires someone who is adaptable, reliable, and capable of managing multiple duties while ensuring a high level of hygiene and organization in a dynamic environment.
