An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Kinesiologist to join their interdisciplinary health care team. In this role, you will provide holistic, patient-centered care in a Long-Term Care facility, working closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of ECU and Infection Control, the Kinesiologist will work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) to support and enhance the services of the Long-Term Care facility and ensure the provision of safe, wholistic, patient centered care to our clients. The Kinesiologist will work independently and under the guidance of the Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists, in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Degree in kinesiology (Bachelor, or Masters). Master of Professional Kinesiology preferred.
• Registered or eligible for registration within 3 months with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO)
• Previous experience working directly with clients in a Long-Term Care facility preferred
• Basic computer knowledge/skills required
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team environment
• Knowledge and training in cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, orthopedic rehabilitation, biomechanics, ergonomics, or other related health care activities an asset
• Willingness to participate in patient and staff professional development to keep knowledge and skill current
Job Duties:
• Workload includes client care for all designated patients.
• Responsible for the assessment, treatment, education and management of patients utilizing either individual or group sessions.
• Operate as an independent clinician and/or under guidance from the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures.
• Participate in and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Responsible to compile statistical reports and maintain workload data.
• Participate in and contribute to staff education programs within the Long-Term Care facility, including fire and disaster plans, infection control, health & safety and any future programs.
