Job summary

Holy Spirit Catholic School Division seeks a Kindergarten Education Assistant for Children of St. Martha School in Lethbridge. This temporary 14-hour-per-week AM role starts ASAP and ends June 10, 2027, under CUPE 1825.

Candidates should have Hanen certification and relevant experience, with abilities to support children with special needs. The position requires teamwork with professionals, possible toileting support, and First Aid readiness.

Qualifications

• Hanen Learning Language and Loving It Certification is required.
• At least 1 year experience in Childhood Program or with children with special needs.
• Experience using proactive positive intervention with behaviours.
• Able to provide supports and cues for sound production as directed by SLT.
• Able to match activities and model appropriate behaviours at child's level.
• First Aid Training in progress or obtained.
• May require toileting and daily living skills support.
• Ability to work effectively within a trans-disciplinary team.
• Must follow directions from the professional team.
• Must be physically able to engage in active ECS environment.

• Assist with daily living skills and toileting as needed.
• Provide supports and cues as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
• Model appropriate behaviours and activities for children.

KINDERGARTEN EDUCATION ASSISTANT – Children of St. Martha School

This position is open to all internal and external candidates. Prior to employment, successful applicants must provide supporting documents as outlined on our New Employees page.

We are looking to hire a temporary 14.0 hour per week Kindergarten Education Assistant (AM) to work at Children of St. Martha School in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence as soon as possible and terminate June 10, 2027. This position is covered by the CUPE 1825 Support Staff collective agreement. Please quote Posting #4071528.

To be considered for this position candidates must possess or be willing to gain the following skills:

• Hanen Learning Language and Loving It Certification;
• At least one-year experience working in Childhood Program and/or with children with special needs;
• Experience working proactively with positive intervention with child's behaviours;
• Is able to provide supports and cues for sound production as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist;
• Is able to match activities and model appropriate behaviours at child's functioning level;
• Has or is willing to gain First Aid Training;
• Positions may require providing assistance with toileting and other daily living skills;
• Has the ability to work effectively within a trans-disciplinary team which is dependent on the child's need;
• Is able to take direction from the professional team;
• Must be physically able to engage and participate in the active ECS environment.
