Canada Summer Jobs - Lifecentre.CHURCH Temp Cornwall, ON $17.92 CAD per hour

To be eligible, youth must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. Learn more.

Kids & Youth Worker (CSJ)

LOCATION: Cornwall Campus

WORKWEEK: Flexible (TBD)

TERM: Fixed Term Contract

PERIOD: 8 weeks

SALARY: $17.92 / HOUR, for 32 hours per week

OVERVIEW: The Kids & Youth Worker reports to the Campus Pastors and works with them to develop summer youth programs that meet community needs. The main role is to serve as a mentor, leader, and role model for youth in active summer programs, capable of managing large groups of children and youth (from primary school through middle school).

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Self-motivated, receptive to feedback, and a team player
  • Ability to communicate passionately, clearly, and enthusiastically
  • Willing to learn new programs and procedures
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, and attentive

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize, and proactive about youth and program needs
  • Willing to maintain cleanliness, organization, and upkeep
  • Effective communication and ability to work with children and youth
  • Ability to assist in teaching or leading activities
  • Receptive to supervision and guidance
  • Experience working with children/youth in group settings
  • Responsible, friendly, enthusiastic, patient, and eager to learn
  • Knowledge of audio & presentation software is an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with volunteers in programs
  • Cleaning up after programs and maintaining facilities (including washrooms)
  • Supporting Lifecentre Kids and Youth programs as directed
  • Planning and executing youth and community events
  • Organizing outdoor 'fun days'
  • Traveling within the city for community events
  • Building and managing Cornwall campus audio/visual production for events (10%)
  • Preparing A/V plans for weekly kids and youth programs, as well as campus meetings
