POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supervises and coordinates the operations and quality performance of the multi-site Nephrology Clinics, including General Nephrology, Hypertension, Transitional Care, Genetics, Glomerulonephritis, and Multi-Care Kidney Clinics. It also oversees modality education and outpatient home dialysis programs. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, liaising with departments and outside agencies, and implementing process and quality improvements to reduce in-centre dialysis rates. The role ensures operational efficiency, professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with accreditation standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in health-related field (required); Master's degree preferred
- Lean Certification preferred
- Regulated health professional preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in Kidney care (Nephrology, Dialysis, or Transplant)
- Experience in quality improvement and measurement
- Management experience
- Process improvement and lean methodologies expertise
- Data analysis skills
- Excellent organization and change management skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage staff in professional development and support participation in committees
- Act as a coach, mentor, and role model, fostering shared governance and respect for diversity
- Identify educational needs and develop orientation programs
- Supervise staff activities, including hiring, promoting, disciplining, and terminating
- Manage employee relations, performance appraisals, and coaching
- Promote attendance management and ensure policy adherence
- Develop strategic priorities and oversee quality improvement initiatives aligned with standards and networks
- Monitor quality outcomes, develop action plans, and coach staff on continuous improvement
- Ensure nursing practice excellence in accordance with standards and guidelines
- Review key performance indicators and develop corrective actions
- Oversee day-to-day operations of education, home dialysis, and nephrology clinics
- Plan and coordinate resources, including scheduling and supplies
- Review complaints and compliments, investigating and resolving issues
- Ensure client/family care aligns with standards and guidelines
- Review financial reports monthly, identify variances, and develop action plans
- Identify efficiencies and develop business plans accordingly
- Engage staff in financial responsibilities and foster a solution-oriented environment
- Coordinate capital and non-capital purchase requests
- Utilize resources effectively to meet program goals
