Job description

About the Role:

Behavior Genius is seeking a passionate and patient Kickboxing Instructor to lead weekly fitness sessions for children with special needs. This position is part of our social skills enrichment program, aimed at improving physical health, discipline, confidence, and peer interaction through the art of kickboxing.

This is a contractor position with a commitment of one 1-hour class per week on Thursdays, totaling 3 hours per month. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching children, especially those with developmental or behavioral challenges, and will foster a safe, structured, and empowering environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead structured, engaging, and adaptive kickboxing classes once a week for children with special needs.

  • Incorporate social skill development (e.g., turn-taking, following directions, confidence-building) into physical activities.

  • Use trauma-informed and inclusive teaching strategies appropriate for diverse learners.

  • Ensure all students are safe, supported, and appropriately challenged throughout class.

  • Collaborate with program staff as needed to align class goals with broader therapeutic objectives.

  • Maintain professional boundaries, timely attendance, and a positive, respectful attitude.

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience teaching kickboxing or martial arts to youth (required).

  • Experience working with children with autism or other special needs (preferred).

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Strong classroom management skills and clear communication style.

  • Ability to work independently and professionally as a contractor.

  • Must pass a background check.

Contract Terms:
  • 1099 Independent Contractor Agreement.
  • 3 hours per month (1-hour session, weekly).
  • Classes take place on-site at our treatment center.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • $20–$25 per hour
