Job description

KMS Tools & Equipment Ltd. is an industrial distributor of tools and equipment with 14 locations, an outside sales team covering many major parts of BC and Alberta. We sell everything from power tools to compressors, welders, hand tools, woodworking machinery, shop equipment & much more! We are proudly Canadian owned and operated and are looking for highly motivated individuals that are passionate about working in the tool industry.

KMS Tools is looking for an experienced retail manager to support our Kamloops store location. The management position duties include overseeing a team of 20+ employees, assisting in HR and performance management, working closely with regional managers to build sales volume and provide outstanding customer service.

The expected wage range for this position is between $65,000 and $80,000 yearly.

Successful applicants will bring the following:

  • Recent retail management experience of at least 3 years of managing teams with more than 20 employees. This includes performance management strategies, basic human resources and recruitment.
  • Experience working in a related industry or extensive hobby or product usage experience
  • Ability to drive sales and store initiatives while maintaining key performance indicators
  • Proficiency with Microsoft, Gsuite and Epicor systems
  • A proven ability to be an effective leader either through references or education
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong understanding of customer service and the retail environment
  • Strong ability to prioritize, plan, and multitask and requires minimal supervision
  • A high level of attention to detail and organization

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure team provides outstanding customer service in a helpful, professional manner
  • Position and schedule team appropriately
  • Assist with HR, performance management and recruitment
  • Develop efficiencies and delegate responsibilities to team members
  • Ensure team has excellent product knowledge and department expertise
  • Maintain payroll at a branch level
  • Monitor revenue, gross profit generation and expenditures to maximize profitability
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized and efficient store, warehouse, parking lot and yard
  • Learn and become proficient with our operating system – Prophet 21 – and other various tools including but not limited to: email, web portals, phone systems, etc.
  • Continually strive to gain applicable knowledge, attend training events and seminars, etc.
  • Assist with any areas of the store as necessary and work special events
  • Communicate professionally and accurately with both customers and staff
  • Ensure buildings are properly secured at the end of each business day
  • Work hard to “get it done” and have fun doing so!
