ITS Consulting is looking for a Junior Web Developer & WordPress Support Specialist to join our Vancouver web development team.

This role is focused primarily on the ongoing support, maintenance, and management of approximately 150 client WordPress websites, with opportunities to contribute to broader web development projects as experience and workload allow.

This is more than a content administration role. You will be expected to understand how WordPress websites operate, troubleshoot issues, safely make production changes, test your work, document findings, and know when to elevate more complex problems.

The remaining portion of the role supports our development team with junior development work, primarily within WordPress, with opportunities to assist on custom web applications and integrations. Depending on the project, you may gain exposure to Laravel, React, Next.js, TypeScript, APIs, SQL, Docker, Linux, and Microsoft Azure.

You do not need to know every technology we use on day one. We are looking for someone early in their development career who has a strong foundation in web technologies, learns quickly, troubleshoots methodically, communicates clearly, and wants hands‑on experience working with real production systems and client projects.

What You’ll Work On

• Monitor, triage, and respond to website support requests.
• Help manage recurring maintenance and support across approximately 150 WordPress websites.
• Maintain WordPress core, plugins, and themes using established staging, backup, testing, and rollback procedures.
• Troubleshoot plugin/theme conflicts, PHP errors, broken layouts, forms, redirects, caching/CDN issues, performance problems, integrations, and configuration issues.
• Assist with website security updates, vulnerability remediation, post‑update testing, and rollback when required.
• Work with hosting environments including Pressable and Kinsta.
• Assist with DNS, SSL, Cloudflare, website migrations, backups, staging environments, and production launches.
• Build and update pages using Divi, Gutenberg, and other WordPress tools.
• Make responsive front‑end changes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Assist with custom WordPress themes, plugins, hooks, filters, APIs, and integrations.
• Support appropriately scoped bugs and tasks in existing custom web applications.
• Assist with SQL/data tasks, QA, browser testing, deployments, and post‑release validation.
• Participate in Git‑based development workflows and code review.
• Maintain clear ticket notes, testing results, and technical documentation.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding support requests, requirements, progress, and completed work.

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 0–2 years of professional web development, website support, agency, freelance, co‑op, internship, or similar experience.
• Around 1+ year of hands‑on WordPress experience is preferred.
• Strong HTML and CSS fundamentals.
• Basic JavaScript and PHP experience.
• Hands‑on WordPress administration experience.
• Understanding of responsive web development.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools.
• Git and basic source‑control workflows.
• Basic understanding of domains, DNS, SSL, and web hosting.
• Ability to read logs and error messages while troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of website performance, caching, image optimization, accessibility, and SEO.
• Awareness of safe production‑change practices including staging, backups, testing, and rollback.
• Clear written communication and documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple unrelated tasks and priorities.
• Good judgment about when to investigate independently and when to escalate.
• Personal, academic, freelance, internship, and open‑source projects are welcome ways to demonstrate your technical ability. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Experience with any of the following is beneficial, but we do not expect a junior candidate to know everything:

• Custom WordPress themes or plugins

• Sentry or other monitoring/error‑tracking platforms

• GitHub and GitHub Copilot

We actively use modern development and AI‑assisted tools. Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar tools is valuable, but developers are still expected to understand, review, test, and validate the work they produce.

Our Clients & Work

Our web development team supports a broad mix of organizations in Vancouver, across British Columbia and Canada, and internationally. Our clients include small and mid‑sized businesses, larger commercial organizations, charities and non‑profits, associations, public‑sector organizations, and healthcare‑adjacent organizations.

Our work includes traditional business websites, high‑traffic WordPress sites, WooCommerce and Shopify e‑commerce, campaign websites, custom web applications, APIs and integrations, internal business systems, and cloud‑hosted applications.

Because we support many different clients and systems, you should be comfortable moving between different websites, technologies, priorities, and technical problems throughout the week.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $50,000–$55,000 CAD per year, depending on experience.

• Full‑time, Monday to Friday.
