Job summary

Kleinfelder Canada in Calgary seeks a Junior to Intermediate Civil/Structural Designer to deliver 2D and 3D design for piping, structural and process equipment projects in the oil and gas sector.

You will work with engineers and designers, prepare drawings, perform clash checks, and contribute to on-time project delivery while meeting Kleinfelder’s design standards. A technical drafting diploma and hands-on CAD software experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in 2D design and 3D modeling with CadWorx, MicroStation, ProStructures Navisworks, and AutoPLANT.
• Civil/Structural design experience in the Oil and Gas Industry and EPC experience.
• Experience with concrete and steel structures and multi-discipline project is required.
• Computer knowledge is required including Microsoft® Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
• Technical Diploma in drafting design or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electronic working plans and technical drawings that are in compliance with project standards and goals.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform conceptual layout work, develop design details, perform clash detection of models with other discipline models.
• Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the design.
• Work closely with engineers and design team members to ensure design documents are completed according to deadlines.
• Provide input into design budget and hour estimates as required to support proposals and cost estimates.

Role Overview

The Junior to Intermediate Civil/Structural Designer is responsible for the technical excellence of civil/structural design activities. The individual will need to provide Junior to intermediate level civil/structural design services with respect to piping, structural and process equipment and other associated facility design utilizing Kleinfelder's and/or client design standards. In addition, working as an integral part of the Kleinfelder team, have a positive attitude, be a team player and be able to meet demanding deadlines.

Experience & Academic Requirements
