McElhanney in Lloydminster, AB is seeking a motivated Junior Survey Technologist to join our growing geomatics team. This entry‑level role is ideal for recent technical school graduates or those with hands‑on field experience and a desire to start or grow a surveying career.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, receive hands‑on training, and contribute to projects across oil & gas, construction, and municipal sectors.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Survey or Geomatics Technologist diploma from a recognized technical school, or practical field experience in surveying.
• Strong interest in a field-based, hands-on technical career.
• Willingness to work in various environmental and weather conditions, including remote areas.
• Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment and gear.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record.
• Basic computer and math skills; GPS and Total Station knowledge is an asset.
• Must pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Support field survey crews by assisting with the setup and operation of survey equipment.
• Learn to collect data for engineering, legal, construction, and oil & gas projects.
• Assist with preparing field notes, sketches, and data logs under guidance.
• Work in both urban and remote field environments; some travel and camp work may be required.
• Support team members in ensuring compliance with McElhanney’s safety and quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure project success.

The salary range for this position is $24-$36 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
