Job summary

MDA Space in Montreal is seeking a Junior Structural Analyst to join the Satellite Systems team. The candidate will perform static, dynamic and thermoelastic analyses using standard structural analysis techniques, Nx/Nastran and other commercial or in-house developed software.

Responsibilities include sizing components, documenting analyses, and generating test procedures and reports to demonstrate design worthiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of direct experience in structural dynamics and static & thermo-elastic analyses with NASTRAN (Nx environment).
• Good communication skills.
• Experience in fatigue and shocks is preferred.
• Knowledge of composites and acoustic analyses is a plus.
• Bilingualism (English) for client interactions outside Quebec.

Role:

The junior structural analyst performs static, dynamic and thermoelastic analyses using standard structural analysis techniques, Nx/Nastran and other commercial or in-house developed softwares.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

• He/she sizes the components, identifies problem areas, suggests modifications or guides the design as necessary.
• He/she calculates the safety margins and documents the analyses.
• He/she may also be called to generate test procedures, carry experiments and write test reports to demonstrate design worthiness.

Minimal Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent.
• 0 - 2 years of direct experience in structural dynamics (modal, sine, random) as well as static & thermo-elastic analyses with the FEA software NASTRAN, preferably in an Nx environment.
• Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Multi-tasking capability.
• Ability of identifying key issues in a design and prioritizing them accordingly.
• Ability of working under tight schedule.
• Experience in fatigue and shocks
• Knowledge of composites
• Experience in acoustic analyses.

• Experience in structural testing (vibration test, modal test, etc.)
• Bilingualism (contact with clients outside Quebec and work on deliverables in English)

• Experience in the space industry & antenna RF requirements are assets.

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
